Obama 39%, Paul 38%

The president and the maverick are running almost dead even in a hypothetical 2012 election matchup.
Texas Republican Congressman Ron Paul earns 38% of the vote to President Obama’s 39% in the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely U.S. Voters. Fourteen percent (14%) like some other candidate, and eight percent (8%) remain undecided.

Gallup Poll Shows a Close Race

If the election were held today,  the four leading Republican candidates would fair well against incumbent President Barack Obama, according to Gallup survey of about 1,000 American adults .
President Obama would receive between 46-48 percent of the vote, depending on who the Republicans field to oppose him, outperforming his rather anemic 40 percent job approval rating.
Texas Governor Rick Perry would receive 47 percent of the vote, which is a better showing than Michelle Bachmann or Ron Paul. However, only former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney tops Obama in the hypothetical, taking 48 percent of the vote compared to Obama’s 46 percent.
It’s important to note that a poll (including this one) is nothing more than snap shot of opinion at a set moment in time. All this poll shows is that as the race for the White House gets started, neither side enters with an overwhelming advantage.

Ron Paul's birthday 'money bomb' nets $1.6 million

When it comes to donations, Texas Rep. Ron Paul believes small is beautiful.
In a 24-hour fundraising push over the weekend, GOP presidential candidate Paul scooped up more than $1.6 million in small donations. It was Paul's 76th birthday and his loyal band of dedicated campaigners came through again for the inconoclastic Texas libertarian.
This happened despite a cyber-attack on the campaign Website, announced on Paul's Facebook page, that shut it down for a few hours.

The Judge On Ron Paul, Post Ames

Ron Paul Packs a Full House At Campaign Event

AMHERST – 50 or more people crowded the living room, dining room, and overflowed into the kitchen of a local pediatric surgeon’s Amherst home Thursday night for a chance to get their questions answered by U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, a Republican presidential candidate from Texas.
Attendees, many from the medical field and Elliot Hospital, nibbled on chips and sipped beverages as Paul towered over the crowd from atop marble living room table, fielding questions from around the room for almost 45 minutes.

Ron Paul Finishes 2nd At Ames - Gets Ignored - Why?

In the week following Congressman Ron Paul’s second-place showing at the Ames Straw Poll, where he finished just 152 votes behind Michele Bachmann, Paul’s fellow Republican presidential candidates are echoing his decades-old message on monetary policy -- even if the original messenger is left out of green rooms.
Paul’s reaction to being ignored by most in the media was on display at an office opening in Concord, N.H., Wednesday. "In this day and age, they are not as relevant as they think they are,” Paul said, adding, “We have enthusiasm, rightness of our cause and another little gadget called Internet.”
The Daily Show also lampooned the media this week for dismissing the 12-term congressman. "How did Ron Paul become the 13th floor at the GOP hotel?” Jon Stewart asked.

Ron Paul Punk Rock Video

It was only a matter of time, but someone’s finally gone and recorded a punk rock anthem for GOP presidential candidate and contrarian Texas Rep. Ron Paul.
Released on YouTube Wednesday, the song, written by musician Erik LaVergne and titled simply “Ron Paul Punk Rock Anthem,” is perhaps the first punk song in history to advocate Austrian School monetary theory.
“We know how to fix this mess,” LaVergne shouts. “Fire Ben and the printing press!”
And who best to fix this mess? “RON PAUL!” says the chorus. “RON PAUL!

Ron Paul Is The One - New Ad

Brief Overview of Congressman Paul’s Record:

He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.

He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.

He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.

Congressman Paul introduces numerous pieces of substantive legislation each year, probably more than any single member of Congress.

Sound of Silence

Watching some classic Jack Cafferty videos on Ron Paul today, reminded me of a 2007 Ron Paul video.
Four years later Ron Paul is still standing by the same beliefs, saying the same things to the voters.
The video is one of my favourites from the 2008 Republican campaign. Inspiring stuff, inspiring music too from Simon and Garfunkel, Sound of Silence track.

Jon Stewart - Media Deliberately Ignoring Ron Paul

UPDATED: Baier Rethinks Coverage Of Ron Paul After Jon Stewart Calls Him Out

Brett Baier

August 16, 2011 3:11 pm ET by Andy Newbold

Last night on Comedy Central's The Daily Show, Jon Stewart called out the broadcast media for failing to include Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) in the top tier of potential candidates for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. One of the people Stewart called out was Bret Baier. Stewart accused Baier of giving a "smirk and an eye roll" after Paul promised to bring troops home during the GOP presidential debate that Baier co-moderated.

Stewart's criticism appeared to hit home. The very next day Brett Baier appeared on Fox News' Happening Now and stated: "One person to not discount, and we don't, is Congressman Ron Paul." Baier added: "There has been a lot of media criticism about the media coverage of Congressman Paul and I think that is a fair assessment."

Baier also asserted that Paul "will be a factor throughout this race."

The Daily Show - Media Ignoring Ron Paul

Jon Stewart and The Daily Show turned its attention to Rep. Ron Paul, the Texas Republican who almost won the Ames Straw Poll, documenting the broadcast media's habit of conspicuously ignoring him, or at best flaunting the dismissive way that they treat him and his campaign for the GOP nomination.
